This Flood Alert has been issued as we expect heavy rainfall overnight to lead to some flooding. Flooding to low lying land and roads is forecast tonight and during the early morning tomorrow, Thursday 21 October. The first flooding is expected from approximately 11:30pm tonight. Flooding is likely in multiple areas along rivers in the area, particularly around Beddington, Thornton Heath, Norbury and between Merton and Summerstown. Any low lying areas near rivers could be affected. There is currently some uncertainty in where the heaviest rain will fall so some areas may only see raised river levels and no flooding. Further showers are possible during Thursday, leading to some continued flooding into the evening.
